About The Artist

Tine Berentzen Bhatia, a designer and maker of precious objects, is the founder of 4tine, a boutique jewelry studio in Mumbai.  She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parson’s School of Design, New York, USA and a Masters of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Detroit, USA.  Her love for working with precious metals started with an apprenticeship with the renowned Danish silver smith, Karl Gustav Hansen, post which she continued to master her skills at Le Arti Orafe, Florence, Italy where she received a degree in Jewelry Design.   After having spent long passionate hours tinkering and developing future concepts in the studio at design school,  Tine worked with pioneers in the industrial design field such as Harry Allan and Peter Stathis.  In addition Tine has designed fashion accessories at Calvin Klein and wearable computing at Symbol Technologies.

Raised in Denmark and later making New York her home for many years, a relocation to India sparked the inspiration to finally realizing her lifelong dream of launching a jewelry line. The inspiration for her pieces comes from many different places.  It could be a shape, a color, a place.  All senses are at work in Tine’s creative process. Tine is a maker at heart, making impeccable craftsmanship and pure high quality materials integral parts of her handmade pieces.  Tine’s unique, modern and elegant style and her particular perspective and approach to the craft and design are reflections of her early exposure to design in her childhood days in Denmark.
